Wheat Ale and Orange Sangria

Game day is almost here! Which team are you routing for?

I’m undecided. Remember that I’m a New Englander, turned Seattleite, turned backed to a New Englander. So it’s a win-win situation for me. Also, I only really care about the food and drink. Just being honest.

But while I may not have strong opinions about the game itself, I am opinionated on what we should be drinking on Super Bowl Sunday. And that’s beer. Because the Super Bowl isn’t really the time or place for some complicated cocktails.

So that’s why I created this Wheat Ale and Orange Sangria. Just dump everything in a pitcher and you’re good to go. It doesn’t get much easier than that.

This beer sangria has some great fruity and herby undertones, so I think that even the non-beer drinkers (blasphemy!) will be asking for seconds. But it still tastes like beer. Which is a very good thing, in my humble opinion.

To give the ingredients time to mingle while still preserving some of the carbonation in the beer, I start by adding only half of the beer and chilling everything for 30-60 minutes. Then I gently stir in the remaining beer just before serving.

Cheers,

Liz
